summer
it is so warm here -20-25degrees-, i got a bit of a tan and a bit of a sunburn after spending two days at the beach.
it was so nice so see everyone around us happy and feeling like being on holidays in sicily or portugal or somewhere in europe where it is usually sunny.
a few people (like one of my friends) went to swim and it looked really tempting but i have to say 13 degrees in the water is really NOT WARM ENOUGH!!!
on sunday we went on killiney beach, then to killiney park, saw really nice houses on the way up, went through dalkey, got talking with one local who told us to go to the Vico because it is the best spot, then we saw bono and his wife and then we went back to town (dun laoghaire for me-5mn away)
on monday we went to dalkey, to the Vico which is indeed a really nice hidden spot with flat rocks, then to killiney park, then through killiney village trying to find the train station, one local helped us and showed us bono's house, well more like the huge high fence... and back to dun laoghaire to watch Juno in people's park.
so we now called it the bono bank holiday weekend, but i will more remember the pleasure of discovering the Vico, the joy of watching the whole dublin from killiney park, and the fantastic weather!
pictures to come

no cork but lentils
not feeling well so i didn't go to Cork.
and i am so exhausted at the moment, even though i am not working that much...
it might be a lack of iron as i used to have so i decided to eat cereals every morning, eat red meat once every week, and also i am at the moment preparing a lentil soup...
(lentils pre cooked in 1litre of water
+sliced onions+tomatoes+garlic+cumin+paprika+parsley+salt and pepper all cooked in a frying pan
all ingreedients in a casserole for 30mn and add water).
yummy!
http://www.la-cuisine-marocaine.com/recettes/entrees-chau...

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
i'd really like to see that movie. it looks like a mix between a fairytale and a Tim Burton movie and all the actors are surely good.

casting
for the tudors
i went there and i knew before going that i probably won't be called back.
why? a piercing on my face and tattoos on my hand! it's not really gonna fit in the tudors settings!
even though on my form they wrote french in capital letters (as there is a big connection with france in the tudors), and they asked me if i could take off my piercing ( i don't mind as long as i'm working on the production for real and not just for a day) but then the tattoos.... well i guess i could put colour skin bandage on them, or they surely have good make up artists but at the casting it was: oh visible tattoos, a catastrophe!
anyway they are shooting from mid-june to mid-november.

Africa Day
such a sunny day, a big crowd (about 4000 thousands maybe more), a fantastic venue (the iveagh gardens: stoned walls, trees, grass, fountains, waterfall...), the sun, great food, good music even there were more irish acts than african acts, and oh did i mention the sun?
i forgot my camera but here are pics of the site map, the program and moroccan pastries i bought.

Fontainebleau
i was in Paris for a few days and i went to Fontainebleau for the first time.
really nice, chic, rich town with loads of restaurants and bars that all seemed really good and cool.
we went to a small italian restaurant that was delicious.
and also the fantastic chateau in Fontainebleau that has 3 or 4 different parks and is right in the heart of town.
and of course the forest of Fontainebleau which is huge but can be dangerous when it gets dark as i heard that wild dogs are numerous and attack joggers or walkers...

BRAY TO GREYSTONES CLIFF WALK
Stunning sea cliffs, abundant wildlife and a fantastic walk - What more could you ask for!
If you are looking for a bracing and invigorating walk while taking in some clean sea air, look no further than the cliff walk from Bray to Greystones. Begin your journey on Bray Promenade and enjoy the seaside town atmosphere before you move on to the stunning cliff walk where you'll find a huge variety of wildlife and breathtaking scenery.
The coastal walk is 8km in length (5 miles) of cliff-top paths, which snake their way south from the end of Bray esplanade. Next to this is the challenging Bray Head climb, which will take you about an hour to the summit and back. This walk offers spectacular views of the Wicklow Mountains and, if you're lucky, all the way to Wales on a clear day.
These dramatic walks are accessible by a regular DART and bus service from Dublin city centre into the large town of Bray or the charming and bustling town of Greystones.

busy bee
i think Camera Obscura are a really good band even if they are a bit too sweet pop for my liking.
i had a great time doing light for Sleep Thieves in ALT on saturday, Alphastates, Codes and 8Ball were also playing, nice quality local bands so it was a good gig overall.
i only liked one song of Miss Kittin on sunday, i thought it was a bit boring to be honest, the crowd was dull and so were the artists (idon'tknow who started though, artists or crowd?).
i was impressed by the Somadrone-Fennesz gig last night that was not boring but actually quite interesting and good, experimental drowny electronica.
day off today.
5 metal bands tomorrow.
going to see a play on saturday afternoon, then club in ALT.
then going sailing on sunday.

travel and friends
i love travelling and most of my friends do as well. for me the best part in travelling is discovering a new culture: meet the people that live there everyday and enjoy their stories, their language, their habits, their food, their shops etc.
we are thinking about where to go next january (i always take holidays in january as it is is dead quiet at work), our plan for the moment (it can change whether flight tickets get really expensive or we have no money) is
Dublin-NYC, 2-3 days in New York City, NYC-Honolulu, 2 weeks in Hawaii somewhere in the countryside trying to avoid the big cities, Honolulu-NYC, 2-3 days in New York City again, NYC-Dublin.
we are just lookin for somewhere far away, sunny, with the ocean, a different culture, and somewhere where it is not so trendy to go to avoid mass tourism.(i.e thailand where half the french and irish go at the moment, or if south america, what country should we choose?). anyway as well as holidays, we are already looking at different possibilities for work in NYC just to see what it's like.
i was going through my friends blogs this morning, Emilie in Vichy, Erica in Clermont-Fd, Jen in NYC, Catie in London... and then Manue in Serbia.
I met Manue in Ireland where we were both working, after 2 or 3 years she decided to go and do something that can mix voluntary work, languages, different cultures and environment.
so she is now in Serbia helping young people, making them aware of the importance of the environment. i thought she was going to stay there only for a year but apparently she is determined trying to find a proper job over there. i admire her.
here is her very interesting blog:

speaking of french festivals
i'm going to this one this year

-because the atmosphere is supposed to be excellent, kinda independent rock festival
-because due to the location, it's most likely to be sunny
-because the line up seems good, and we are still waiting for a dozen other names
-because there's only two or three stages so you don't have to walk for hours to go from one stage to another
-because for 70 euros you've got the two day pass and the camping

have you ever
heard of/ bought/ cooked this vegetable?
this is a butternut squash (une courge butternut en francais)
anyone has advice for me on how to cook it?
i found this recipe
Cut the squash in half and scoop out the seeds. Fill the scooped out area with butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. Wrap each half in foil and place on the grill, cut side up.
The longer you leave them on the grill on a low heat the better they get.
or there's a lot here:

bands and bands
Secret Weapons
Howl
Hassle Merchants
Hot Sprockets
Murder of Crows
good gig overall. badly organised though. didn't know stage times, how many bands were playing, didn't even know what the main band looked like as they didn't soundcheck. was really impressed with Howl: sounds like metal punk with acoustic tendencies and singer has a great powerful voice. Hassle Merchants are quite good although a bit too much like The Strokes, they should try to create something instead of copying. Hot Sprockets were good as usual.
Dirty Epics
The Red Labels
The Dirty 9s
Land Lovers
nice bands but a few boring artists. the Red Labels have potential and the Dirty Epics are good and promising.
The Laundry Shop
Royseven
DC Tempest
i think Royseven were the least good of the night. they used to be really good, but maybe it was just that night. DC Tempest will be back for a launch. The Laundry Shop are efficient rock with just three members.

first time out
on the sea today!
i had so much fun. it was great. and i have to say i'm not sea sick at all. sea and winds were ok at first (F4) and when i took the hand the winds starting to increase (of course) and i had to struggle not to make the boat capsize! we headed then to another direction and as it was kinda still bad (F5) we decided to go back but we were still on the sea for 2 hours and a half and it felt like 30mn! it was brilliant. the boat i was on is a keelboat Sigma 33 called Obsession and is berthed in Dun Laoghaire Marina.
here is a small picture and then a video of members of the club on a sailing session
