Blur memories
this song made me shivered, the best moment of the gig for me, This is a Low
sing along with Graham, oh my baby, oh my baby, oh my...
a good classic at the beginning of the gig
crowd jumping and shouting
an old classic from 1994
same year
the song most of the people (maybe too many) were waiting for
emotional
in the crowd and nice pop song to sing along to
in the crowd again for the last song

Oasis vs Blur
so a couple of weeks ago i saw Oasis (end of june) and then Blur (mid july)
and i finally remembered that when i was about 14 y-o, even though i had albums by those two bands, i was more of a Blur fan.
and i know why: the magic of every songs in Blur set at Oxegen (a few videos to come), the happiness they convey to their audience (Albarn's smile is contagious) and the energy and craziness of a rock n roll band (Coxon lying on the ground and playing, Albarn jumping into the crowd several times).
compare with Oasis: loads of anthems and sing alongs allright, no happiness conveyed that's for sure, just this intriguing rock n roll arrogant attitude that makes you stay and watch.
so Blur made my day at Oxegen, they even made my weekend. oh what the hell, they made all my summer festivals!
a brilliant come-back for Blur, and we all want more that's for sure.

i find this funny
the singer from Why wrote this on myspace
| Hi, I know this is a really cheesy thing to do on myspace, but I'm desperate. I currently live in Oakland California and am moving out of the state on august first and would love assistance in getting rid of most of my worldly possessions. I am really bad at doing this kind of thing (craigslist, etc.) and am busy with other things to boot (album art/ some remix stuff, etc.)...if you are someone who excels at these kinds of projects, (and are preferably but not requiredly a cute female) I would be glad to split all revenue from sales of my stuff with you 50/50. you also can have a bunch of free stuff if you want. Hit me up with a myspace message only if you are really and truly interested in helping me knock this out. Please leave your phone number, email address, and a brief explanation of why I should choose you for this. thanks, yoni wolf |
help him if you live around!

Frank's Ashes
just watched Angela's ashes last night and learned that this morning.
http://www.rte.ie/news/2009/0720/mccourtf.html
Award-winning writer Frank McCourt has died at the age of 78.
He was suffering from meningitis and had recently been treated for skin cancer.
A school teacher who came to writing late in life, Mr McCourt wrote the Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir Angela's Ashes in 1995.
The book, which told the poignant, bleak story of his upbringing in Limerick in the 1940's, was later made into a film directed by Alan Parker.
The book sold over 4m copies, and was translated into 17 languages.
Mr McCourt was honoured with US National Book Critics Circle Award, the Los Angeles Times Book Award, the ABBY Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Biography.
'Tis,' McCourt's second book, picked up where the first left off as he arrived back in the US at age 19. McCourt's 2005 'Teacher Man' chronicled his 27-year career in New York's school system.
Frank McCourt dropped out of school at 13, and during the Korean War he was stationed in Germany and was able to study. He later enrolled at New York University before taking the lead in a city classroom.
He is survived by his wife Ellen, and daughter Maggie.

production week
in the Gate tonight, monday and tuesday.
PRESENT LAUGHTER
by Noël Coward
OPENING TUESDAY 14TH JULY
LOW PRICE PREVIEWS 9TH JULY
From the creative team that brought you the acclaimed Gate Theatre productions of Oscar Wilde's Lady Windermere's Fan (2005), W. Somerset Maugham's The Constant Wife (2006) and Noël Coward's Private Lives (2007), comes Coward's brilliant comedy of manners, oozing with charm, panache and verbal wizardry.
At the centre of his own carpe diem universe sits matinee idol Garry Essendine; suave, debonair, hedonistic and advancing, with every sign of reluctance, into middle age. His private life, the demands of his ex-wife and various adoring girlfriends is tolerated until he goes too far and plays a little too close to home. Just before he escapes, the full extent of his misdemeanours is exposed and all hell breaks loose.
"Coward at his peak - the dialogue sparkles, the laughs come easily" Observer
"One of the greatest writers of comedy" Sunday Times
