have you ever
heard of/ bought/ cooked this vegetable?
this is a butternut squash (une courge butternut en francais)
anyone has advice for me on how to cook it?
i found this recipe
Cut the squash in half and scoop out the seeds. Fill the scooped out area with butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. Wrap each half in foil and place on the grill, cut side up.
The longer you leave them on the grill on a low heat the better they get.
or there's a lot here:

Butternut squash, blue cheese and walnut quiche.
No idea about the quantities I'm afraid as I make it up as I go along but you need:
shortcrust pastry (1 packet)
blue cheese - saint agur is what I usually use (1 pack)
butternut squash
eggs (2-3 depending how big a quiche you want)
milk/cream
walnuts (two handfuls?)
Chop butternut squash into small cubes and fry in a little oil until it's soft. (5 mins or so - you need to keep stirring regularly and it works best if you put a lid on the saucepan to keep the moisture in so cooks more quickly).
As you do this, pre-bake the quiche base with a little rice on top of it. Probably at about 180.
Then lay the butternut squash cubes onto the quiche base and scatter over walnuts.
In a bowl, whisk the eggs and add a little milk (or cream). Pour over quiche base. Then cut blue cheese into strips and arrange on top.
It then needs to cook for about 20-25 mins at 200.
(You can basically substitute butternut squash for any recipe that has pumpkin in it).
