ha.

that's how i see french music

two good singers presented in this article (in french...), they sing in french, are talented, not boring and are not "variete francaise"...

Dominique A

Miossec

http://www.lemonde.fr/web/article/0,1-0@2-3246,36-971969@...

"Comment faire de la chanson sans faire de la variété ?" Pour tous deux, la réponse passera par l'alliance de l'héritage punk avec celui de Brel ou Ferré. L'épure originelle (guitares sèches pour Miossec, claviers de poche pour Dominique A) s'étoffe jusqu'à s'enrichir d'un orchestre à cordes."

"How to be a french singer songwriter without being classified as doing bad popular french music?" For both of them, the answer is to mix their punk influence with a more traditional influence such as Brel or Ferre. The original sketch (acoustic guitars for Miossec, keyboards for Dominique A) is expanding up till integrating a full string orchestra."

news in french...

-Bertrand Cantat and stupid rumours

http://www.lesinrocks.com/index.php?id=60&tx_news[not...

On pouvait ainsi lire que Bertrand Cantat aurait écrit sous pseudonyme des textes de chansons pour le gagnant de la Nouvelle Star Julien Doré,

- Kurt Cobain and a documentary

Ben Gibbard (Death Cab For Cutie, Postal Service) a composé Indian Summer. Egalement au programme, Bowie, Iggy Pop et R.E.M. Universal vient d'annoncer la sortie américaine du documentaire pour le 19 novembre 2007

-Johnny Marr and a possible reunion

"des choses étranges se produisent, vous savez, qui sait ?" Il s'empressa de préciser que ce n'était cependant pas à l'odre du jour et qu'il faudra patienter mais il entrouvre la porte.

camden's roundhouse...

this is taking place right now in London...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/electricproms/

The BBC Electric Proms brings together the best new and established live performers. From massive gigs in Camden's Roundhouse to intimate performances, everyone was encouraged to try something new. Be it debuting a new project, a collaboration or a performance with an orchestra.

i'm just watching the Kaiser Chiefs performing... they have rigged hundreds of movers (= moving lights, i.e lights flashing, changing colors and directions) everywhere in Camden's Roundhouse!!! it must have taken a few days, or a lot of lighting technicians... good stuff!

and as it is broadcasted on tv, the singer has a nice follow spot following him... (i.e i don't like, no hang on, i hate follow spots!)

and the show of the kaiser chiefs performing with an orchestra is quite good.

i went to

the hairdresser today. i know it's not interesting.

but they had amazing armchairs... you know the ones that massage your back! yeah that's the ones... so good! above all when you're working a minimum of 10 hours per day without days off and often using your muscles to lift things. it was so relaxing :-)

so in a way the 45 euros - :-( -were worth it...

yeahyeahyeah yeahyeah yeahyeahyeah

lcd soundsystem rocks! yeah!

tripod, friday the 19th of october, james murphy on stage talks after the first song: "i've been spitting in my microphone since 2002 so it stopped working this afternoon and we had to open and fix it..."

that surely explains the problem of feedback the sound engineers had during the whole show...

concerning the lighting show, Ian was there operating and as he had been working like a mad man for the past few days, the lighting show was good but not excellent as expected... (he'll be better after a week of holidays in Marocco! lucky b****** ;-)

they played their hits, they played them well, they enjoyed it, the audience was dancing, clapping and sweating.

so this is a real live band, i mean the albums are good but their energy can really be captured on stage.

james murphy is a nice man, my friend Conor -who by the way is an absolute fan- got the chance and the exclusivity to interview him on friday afternoon:

check the interview on line soon: http://www.analoguemagazine.com/

and here is a pic that put a big smile on my face:

House of Cosy Cushions

we have decided to begin a collaboration, using their music- imagination- animations to create a nice setting made of soft and subtle lights and effects.

i am going to check them out live tonight in whelans so i can be inspired ;-)

i am the board operator

Adapted for stage by Vicky Ireland

10 year old Andrea used to live happily with her family at Mulberry Cottage. Andy, Mum, Dad…and Radish, who lives in Andy's pocket and shares all her secrets.   Mulberry Cottage was beautiful, with roses round the door and a big old twisted tree in the garden.

But then it all went wrong: Mum went to live with Bill and Dad went off with Carrie.  And Andy?  Well, she was expected to shuttle between the two – living out of a suitcase.   Even worse, suddenly, Andy's got five step-brothers and sisters - Bill has Paula and Graham and horrible little Katie and hippy-dippy Carrie has her twins Zen and Crystal.

The Suitcase Kid is a funny and touching story of how Andy comes to terms with this strange new family – and even starts to like them.  Well, most of the time.
