oooh...

Why do bands have bass players?
To translate for the drummer.
A man goes on a 2-month business trip to Europe and leaves his cat with his brother. Three days before his return he calls his brother.
Brother 1: So how is my cat doing?
Brother 2: He's Dead
Brother 1: He's Dead! What do you mean He's Dead! I loved that cat. Couldn't you think of a nicer way to tell me! I'm leaving in 3 days. You could of broke me to the news easier. You could of told me today that she got out of the house or something. Then when I called before I left you could of told me, Well, we found her but she is up on the roof and we're having trouble getting her down. Then when I call you from the airport you could of told me, The Fire Department was there and scared her off the roof and the cat died when it hit the ground.
Brother 2: I'm sorry...you're right...that was insensitive I won't let it happen again.
Brother 1: Alright, alright, forget about it. Anyway, how is Mom doing?
Brother 2: She's up on the roof and we're having trouble getting her down.

Murphys Live Act

The four best heat bands go forward to the semi final stage at
the end of March 2007:

22 of march:

The Chapters and Superjimenez

headliner: The Immediate in Whelan's

29 of march:

 Ilya K and Philtre

headliner: Duke Special in Bróg in Cork

Two bands will then be selected to perform at the Grande Finale on 10th May and support an international act.

The final two will also battle it out to win the pheonomenal prize worth €10,000 that includes an EP launch with Fifa Records, studio recording time, a national distribution deal, full PR and a six month management deal.

The Chapters

The Chapters have had a busy summer! Following their success at the Castle Palooza festival they then went on to release their second EP "Four Thorns". The five members of the band have been playing together for over 2 years and are set to take Ireland by storm in 2007

SUPERJIMENEZ

SUPERJIMENEZ! 'Is it a bird?' 'Is it a plane?' Is it a fat Mexican cartoon superhero? No, gladly, it is a seriously impressive four-piece musical ensemble packing enough punch to ruin Prom.. Taking off in April '06 with their debut single 'Helicopters' (a top 20 hit) the band haven't looked down since, landing gigs at the Oxegen Festival, HWCH and the Music Ireland Festival at the RDS in November on the way to releasing their forthcoming single 'Beau' in February.

ilya K

ilya K were formed in late 2004. In 2005 they released their debut single - Blackout/ice - which received great reviews and regular airplay. In 2006 they had a song selected for a Sofa Records compilation and released a split 7'' single with Gorbachov called Glass Eyes. They've been gigging frequently around the country for the past year or so and have been generating a great deal of interest wherever they play with their explosive live shows.

Philtre

Tralee based rock act Philtre was formed in the summer of 2004 by Junior Abdulsalam, Tom Leahy and Padraig Dillane. They strived at great lengths to create their own distinctive sound centered on melodic riffing, aggressive vocals and addictive choruses and their music has been described as infectious alternative rock.

Constant gigging saw Philtre sharing the stage with Republic of Loose at the Killarney Summer fest. Throughout 2005 also saw them play with Leya, Delorentos, Vesta Varro and The Flaws. January 2006 brought the release of debut EP "Bullet from nowhere" with the headline track being featured on RTE The Sunday Game.

even if ithe Chapters are a good band, and i've never seen the two other bands live, my fingers are crossed for Superjimenez!

i hate the french administration...

so i take the tramway, the bus, then i walk, then i come in the french embassy, i wait for 15 mn, they ask us why we are here for, so it is to fill up a form for proxy voting (presidential elections in may), and then after 10 mn, they tell us we have to come back next week because they don't have any more form left...

they cannot anticipate before that they will have a strong need because of the elections in the near future?

no

because it is the french administration...

oh and look at the opening times: 9.30am to 12 am from monday to friday...
