Radiohead, Beck, Deerhoof...

Beck: fantastique show ou l'humour etait grandement presente...

so i'm gonna try to describe this concert, even if it was so good thta i'm still mentally in marlay park this morning, listening to beck or radiohead, great artists that can carry wonderful feelings to their audience:

Beck: fantastic show where humour was prevailing...
all the good hits, rock, acoustic, rap, really eclectic as usual
nothing to criticize about his music
concerning humour, here are some examples of unforgivable moments:
-puppeteers who were reproducing every minute of the concert on the big screens
-a table installed on the middle of the stage, beck singing, his musicians sit down, a "waiter" comes with a meal of salad, they start eating, and suddenly thay all do percussions with knifes, plates, glasses etc
-a short film with puppets during the first callback: puppets representing Beck who are hanging around in Dublin, who are talking about all the irish cliches (green hat, leprechaun, guinness), who are singing trad music and who are destroying everything in Radiohead dressing rooms!!!

Radiohead: wonderful as expected,  overwhelming feelings during some songs, some good old songs and new compositions, Thom Yorke seemed to be really well and happy (he was playing drums for a song), and musicians who left the stage all smiling
great "creep" at the end who made us almost cry...

Deerhoof: not really liked, to see in a small venue

small bakery-restaurant-kinda french bar found in Dublin, same products than in France, great pastries, it is so good to eat a real religieuse au cafe!!! (-pastry with cream inside-)

Ecouter_monday

"August, 21 2006 at Temple Bar Music Centre
2, Curved street, Dublin,
Cost: 00

Hello there.. The third night of Ecouter Monday, the musical journey.. Sebastien Escalante at 8pm as usual, Jennifer Mc Mahon at 8:30, Nina Hanzlikova at 9, Rhob at 9:30 and Lauren Guillery at 10pm followed by Por Amor al Arte, pure flamenco from Andalusia.. Only good as we promised !!"

bon petit concert acoustique hier soir:

nice acoustic gig last night:

Sebastien Escalante: amazed to see that the bar manager of the TBMC, who is french by the way, is also a good songwriter and musician (he was surprisingly singing in french)

Rhob: great to discover this artist, great voice going to the both treble and bass extremes, good sound of guitar

Lauren Guillery: wonderful voice, powerful and right, good rock n' roll guitar which would obviously be better if it was not in acoustic... to see again live with her band. (she is also french... yep WE ARE INVADING IRELAND ;-))

BRUXELLES

bon petit week-end a Bruxelles
temps ni mauvais ni beau
des gens tres agreables, souriants et serviables
une jolie architecture
pas tres vivant l'ete, plutot familial

nice week-end in Brussels
weather not really nice nor bad
friendly, smiling and helpful persons
a beautiful architecture
not really lively during the summer, more families than young people

FESTAAC

http://festaac.com/

just a quick note to say there was not a lot of people to this african festival where we went last sunday in temple bar (it was raining...) but it was quite good
music and food

hand luggage regulations for Ireland

"Passengers on all flights out of UK airports are not being allowed to take any hand luggage with them, apart from a few essential items in clear plastic bags.

The new restrictions on hand luggage introduced at British airports are not being imposed in Ireland, and passengers have been advised that normal procedures will apply."

good news because I only have a hand luggage with me for the week-end and I didn't want to pay extras just to check in my luggage...

(i'm leaving for brussels tonight...)
